Firstly has anyone pointed out to you that neons are the natural prey of angelfish?
I dont know how big your angels are at present but i should imagine your neons wil start to disapear soon.

What size tank do you have? The problem with most oddball fish is they either grow huge or are predatory/aggressive so not compatable with community tanks so these things must be taken into account before thinking of what fish you would like.

Perhaps you don't really want what they call here "oddball fish" for the reasons above, but just want something that is a little different from the usual.

May I suggest you look into loaches. Kuhlii loaches are nice and colorful too. Horsehead loaches are cute. These fish have long slender bodies (similar to eels) and would be a nice contrast to the fish you have. You would need small gravel or sand for them since they like to burrow into it.

Another choice is a blind cave fish (tetra). This is pink fish that has no eyes. They evolved this way because their ancestors lived in dark caves. They grow to be around 3 inches long and get along well with the other fish. Despite their lack of eyes they do quite well and have no trouble finding food.

Yeah I know about the incompatibility of Neons and Angels.
For that exact reason I bought the Angels as very small babies and so hopefully they will grow to realise that the Neons are not their food and that there is another source of food. Thanx for the concern though!

Ive got a 3 foot 160L tank, not sure how big that is in Gallons but it is a medium sized tank.

Thanx Inchworm for the advice, I'll check it out

Wait wait don't decide yet. Why not try Badis badis badis. Great little fish not too small and not too aggressive get six for your tank. However they must be fed live or frozen food at least once a day. GREAT fish, get it is you can.

if your more partial to burrowing creatures, you should look into eels. preferable a yellowfinned eel. it should do just fine with your fish as long as you buy one as a baby, and let it grow up around your fish

That's a pretty vain hope, I'm afraid. It's instinct - if it fits in their mouth, they'll eat it.
