That's really it, in a nutshell. I want one. I don't have a saltwater setup. I don't have room for one. I don't think one would get along with my cichlids. I don't think one could even be housed with my cichlids. But nonetheless, I love them and I want one.

Someone wanna donate a SW setup and a nice dogfish puffer?

Hey Becca,

I feel your pain. I am dying to get dwarf puffers(FW) but they can't go into my community tank due to aggression. I'm a little tight on space right now...so I will have to wait until I can get rid of some junk before I can get another tank.

There are dwarf puffers which are freshwater. One can go in as little as a 5 gallon aquarium though you couldn't put anything else in with it.

Dwarf puffers are strictly FW and there are a few other FW puffers (~20) and some brackish aswell (~30) look in the oddballs section for more info. What type of cichilids do you have. If you have a HUGE tank and they are african rift cichilids you can get an Mbu or if they are New world/ asian Cichilids thenthey can be kept with a South American Puffer but they need alot of toothe maintainance.

I was looking in the LFS yesterday and I saw what I thought was a really small puffer. Instead it was a cube fish and they are so cool!

I want a puffer, too, but the only ones I saw at my LFS' or LPS' were brackish water, and I didn't want to start off with more than I could handle. Anyone know if I'd be able to keep something like a leopard puffer or a figure 8 puffer in a 5 gallon tank, if there were no other fish in it?

Also, anyone have any puffer tanks they could show me pictures of? I'd be interested in what kind of setup others have got for them.
