Get a tank if you have the space. A nice huge tank 6-8f long and you can have a good few goldies. Once setup big tanks are not difficult to keep at all, way easier than a small tank. A cold water tank is even cheaper. Just get a python for the water changes, buckets will kill you

You don't have to plant it as the plants may get eaten, that saves you on expensive lights and second hand big tanks can come buy very cheap as not many people dare buy these.
 
im thinking to upgrade my tropical tank, if i swap the tv into the other alcove can have an extra foot of tank

so the news that bigger tanks are easer is a welcome comment, as for the pond for goldie...its a no go, he is getting rehomed in a pond after winter, he will be happy, i can have my "betta tank" back, thats the reason i got it haha.
i just feel woulld have to have eyes i my butt with 2 little boys and a pond....plus the expense and runing of it...maybe when my boys are older
