I Think They've Bred!

Maybe they are not cory eggs, what else is in the tank?

I thought different species couldn't cross breed... Frank would know...

Anyhows if they have and its cory eggs then i would destroy them,it doesn't do the fish world any good having cross breeds.

What else do you have in the tank besides corys?

Almost anything is possible, in nature. I've learned to never say, "never." Many species of Corys have hybridized.

If it is determined that they are viable Cory eggs, then, yes - they should be destroyed.

Dont see whats wrong with trying to raise them, providing they wont be mutated or anything. Fair enough not putting them into the fish trade but for personal use id keep them. Thats just me tho

My other tank fish are zebra danio, neon tetra and guppy
The eggs were stuck to the Walls of the tank and on plant leaves. So I don't see how the eggs couldn't be Cory eggs.
Jeezz.. Would I really have to destroy them?

I dont see a problem with raising them aslong as you keep them but dont go giving them to people/lfs incase they breed them then things will just get confusing. Hybrids arent my cup of tea but it would be quite interesting to see what they come out like.

Could be very interesting to raise them.

But I agree, don't sell them to LFS or anything, or if you sell them to others then inform them of their crossbreed.

Is it not possible that one of the cory has stored the fertile eggs? Or is that a no-no?

If i didnt 'destroy' them, what difficulties might i face with them and will thier lives be at a disadvantage in anyway? :look:

Surely selling them to others, whether you say or not of their cross breed,if the cross breeds bred then it just goes on in a downwards spiral...
Human intervention leading to poorly bred fish which leads to weaker lines in the future :grr:

Just my opinion...

No because the eggs are laid then fertilized. Aslong as you keep the fry i dont see any reason to destroy them they shouldnt have any deformities will just be interesting to see what size they get to and colours/patterns ect.

What i've always wondered is that if the eggs are fertilized after the spawn then how come when i've seen my corys spawn(i've watched to many spawns to count) that once the eggs are laid i've never seen the male going over to fertilize them???

So whats the point of the T position happening if the male is supposed to do the bizz after??

sorry going a bit off topic now... Frank where are you

Yeah thats a good point actually i forgot about that. What i was meaning though is if they havent been with any other corys for the last year theres no way they could have stored a fertilized egg since then.

I only aquired the panda cory in around july 2010, it was in a tank with an awful lot of other panda corys.. could have fertile eggs from there maybe? :hyper:

Cheers,
Imogen
