I Think My Krib May Have Laid Eggs? They Are Free Swmming!

Yeah, they should!

Kribs are fairly easy to breed, that is if you provide the basics for them!

I am hoping the fry will be free swimming very soon or I am going to start to worry about them!

The female is still inside her cave, where she has been throughout the entire time, so I know there is still something inside that she is protecting!

I have been home for the weekend so I have not been able to see the tank in 2 days. So, I am hoping when I go back to the university that I will see some babies swimming around!

THEY ARE FREE SWIMMING!

Here is one pic, not the best but you can see the little guys below the female!

So, how long do I keep the fry with the parents before I can remove them?

And, how likely is it that the parents will eat the free swimming fry?

Thanks!

better yet, you can check out the how to breed kribensis, a guide link in my sig! or at the top of this section! (african/old world cichlids)

about 1 month, might be a bit less so keep your eyes open for more fry (she will protect her new fry and chase of and batter the other fry so you dont want that)

the parents will most likely not eat the fry, they will however if you dont give them enough food, be sure to give the fry live baby brine shrimp if not, crushed flakes will do :)

good luck

Thanks guys!

I am feeding the fry "Hikari First Bites." My question is, how do I know the fry are eating this stuff? The powder falls to the bottom of the tank where the fry are, but I cannot tell for the life of me if they are eating it or not?

I also have 3 cories in the same tank that I would like to get rid of. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/312988-3-cories-free-to-good-home/

Thanks!

If they are still alive, their eating something. As they get bigger it will be increasingly apparent if they are eating the food or not.

Thanks! So, they are just like eating debris and what not?

Thanks a lot for your response! Yeah, there are a lot of debris and other stuff floating in the tank. I also feed them daily with the "First Bites." I just put barely any in and you can see is float around the tank; little particles of it.

Thanks!
