I Think I May Have A Boy By Accident

ok so i have a 75g tank in my tank i have

white clouds
glowlight tetras
blue tetras(not neons there bigger)
white skirts
clown loachs
plec
platy
guppys
and 6 female betta

all my guppies 4 males have huge chunks missing out of there tails i am off work at the moment so spend most of my day watching my fish the girls are really sweet dont cause any trouble never seen them chase anything so was thinking it was the blue tetras that had done this as they seem quite active and are nearly always chasing somebody usually one of the other blue tetras but sometimes very rarely a guppy

BUT

i have seen one of my girls? flairing didnt know if girls are supposed to flair but not only that one of my girls now has vertical stripes which i take as meaning breeding bars or something like that i will post pics of them in the morning if needed

none of the girls? as far as i can see look any different other than slight colour changes

what do you think?

Itsprobaly you girls attacking the guppys at to the female betta they look like males...it's very common

I have taken my guppies out of my female bettas tank, they was attacking the guppies and killed 4

As for the female barring up, are you sure you aint got a male in there? i had a male in mine but didnt know because he was a plakat and to me it just looked female, but im no expert on bettas especially when it comes to tale types.

girls flare as well as boys. The only difference is in the girls the frill goes down both sides of their icky faces. in the boys it goes all the way round in a big frill!

she deffo had bars that were vertical im soo hoping i havnt got a boy i would hate to have to take him back i would keep him but have no room we live in a small house and husbands already moaning about us having 2 tanks lol and ones only small with fry in

your getting pretty spot on with the tails now mate so don't put youself down so.

Petal if she is barred then its a bound to be female. When she flared did she have an extension on the gills? and how long have you had her?
