It prolly has something to do with them touching the substrate and sort of being grounded. No idea about the floating sand though buddy lol.
might be, the sand seems to have sunk again for the most part, I still got some floating sand though.LobsterOfJustice said:It prolly has something to do with them touching the substrate and sort of being grounded. No idea about the floating sand though buddy lol.
Thanks, its good to hear and know that, I thought they all lived a real long life. the neons were huge too, biggests ones I ever saw, they never did bread though?noelberg said:I doubt the sand would be affected by the electric discharge, but I've heard of stranger things happening. Maybe the move unsettled loose particles. The only other suggestion is that the floaters might really be something from the heater if it broke. I don't know what the composition on the inside of a heater is![]()
And very sorry to hear about your loss. 3 yrs is a good life tho - those fish were better with you than in an overcrowded "ignorance" tank.
Thanks, I actually put in a new wall socket, to one like the bathrooms have.rollntider said:I would buy a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) this will prevent that from happening again and also will trip the second it senses water. I worked as an electrician for 11 years before I made a career change. I have them on mine and prevented a disaster you have described. What probably happened is somehow the water came in contact with the heater element and grounded out. The gfci is in either breaker or plug form. I recomend putting the breaker in, but either will help prevent future problems. If you arent sure how to do this or feel uncomfortable, please call a qualified electrician.
But I think I want more variety.
I saw some at the lfs when getting a new heater that were like 3" long thin like a pencil, and liked the sand, they were black and orange.
I'd like to first know what they are (they said they jsut got htem in today and he didnt know what they were) and how well they will work with a comunity tank (they are for sale in a 8 days. I have 3 on hold for then.
Thats exactly them, after reading it I'm going to phone tomorrow and take all 10 of them.fish_r_great said:But I think I want more variety.

I know, I was thinking about that after, and I was JUST ABOUT to stick my hand in to stick the cups onto the glass too.DrOizo said:I worry about fish electrocution but my Cra*ppy Juwel heater is made of some plasticy stuff so it can't get broken but my other two are worrying ;/ I'm really sorry about that but your lucky it wasnt you who was floating at the top instead of the fish!!
