okay. but i'm sure it will spike when i add the fish. here are some pic updates. it's still cloudy a tad.

You will get an ammonia spike first ----- wait
you will get a nitrite spike second ...........wait, you can do a water change here
you will then get a Nitrate spike----------do a big water change
THEN test again -------- if Nitrates below 10 then you can think about a cuc

I know some will say you can then add your fish and they do know what they are talking about, they are experienced but you are not....................what's the rush

slowly, slowly catchy monkey

Think you might prefer the look of the tank with more lr and it will be more interesting :good:

Ps half the fun is the waiting and planning

:fish:

okay i understand lol. I know the tank looks badly setup i don't have much here, i had to save $300 to buy what i currently have, so it is pricy hobby lol. How do you think I should arrange those pieces i currently have in there.

oh btw, is there anything i should be doing, i have some FW food should i drop some in the tank to help speed things up with the LR?? if os how much?

If your not adding more rock, I would make use of the fish food after the ammonia spike from the LR to get the biological filtration started. Without more rock, you are relying mostly on the HOB for ammonia removal, so treat it like a fishless cycle in fresh water to ensure the tank is safe for fish. I would not add more than one fish after the initial ammonia and nitrite spikes though if you choose not to go down the fishless cycle route :/ Add enough food for 3-4 fish and when ammonia and nitrite hit zero you are good to go after a big waterchange. You will find during this that any critters on the LR will multiply and there may well be a lot of life out eating the food available.

All the best

i may add 1 more small piece of LR but i won't get that untill i get the fish. i'll add some food i have some dried brimeshrimp, flakes, and dried bloodworm.

If you are relying on the live rock for filtration purposes then I suggest you follow truckasaurus123 and get 1kg per 7litres, if you add the fish with the live rock you will then have another cycle all over again, which could kill your fish. Fish and Inverts can get stressed if not enough hiding places are provided so I deffo think you should get more live rock.

People on here are trying to help you, take there advice into account and think it over, it will reduce the chances of you making mistakes and saving you money and moral

i also said i have a filter runing along with LR.

yeah i did do some reading before i thought about going SW. I just get worried that I'am doing something wrong that is why I keep asking questions. sorry about that.

i'm going to add some dried bloodworm to the tank.

okay i understand.

Some of the live organisms will die off during setup/transporting and will cause waste and spikes in ammonia. I also understand that you are suppose to scrub down the rock before adding to the new tank, i didn't do that at all i just put it in my tank. How do i know if there are any dead stuff on the rock that should be removed?

Im sure scubbing down for the first few rocks is not that important becuase you are taking the good stuff off as well.

okay then. there are also no signs of any hitchikers. there was a worm looking like thing sticking out, but it was just like a twig or somthing i dunno. dit hasn't moved since yesterday must be nothing.

I tend to just throw the rock in (Not literaly obviously, it would break the tank :shifty: , but you know what I mean) No special cleaning treatment with me...
