I think my mums betta has itch.. It has alot of white spots all over him would that be ich? If put him into fresh water in a glass.. all i could find at the moment what can i do to treat him?

If it looks like grains of salt then yes it is ick.I would try to raise the temp to about 80 degrees. You can use aquarium salt (NOT TABLE SALT) or there are products to treat it.

Raise the temp to 85 degrees and use some salt for a week or so and see if this will work without stressing the fish out with medicine. The parasite cannot survive with the temp. this high. Some people dont agree with this type of method but I have had very good luck with this..

Raising the temp is a method that works on fish that can survive temps that high. Depending on the breed of Betta, some can handle temps as high as 30C. The ones you buy in shops can generally handle the 27C required to break the ich's life cycle, although I generally use a chemical remedy too, just to make sure.

Thanx everybody for you help but im not able to raise the temp to 80 because he was living in a 1g bowl... I jus went and checked on him and he has gotten alot worse... Hes got even more spots and on his body he has developed like white patches and the spots and patches look like its got a white fungus sort of thing growing from them... Its about 11pm so im not able to get some salt or anything could i use table salt? Is there anything i can do? :(

is there a warmer room of the house you could move him to? maybe turn the heating on just in one room that you're not using much?

Making the water warmer will just speed up the lifecycle of the parasite and make it uncomfortable for the fish. To kill the whitespot you need to raise the temp to 30 or over.
Salt ins't a good idea. It'll do more harm than good. It gets rid of the oxygen which will stress the fish even more.
I'd find out the amount of water the tank holds and treat with Protozin. You aint really got time to mess around with salt and stuff. I'd get some Protozin in quick and hope it does the job ;)
