I thought "fish meal" as the main ingredients is bad news? Isn't that just the cheapest ingredient that better companies don't really want in their product? I think Hikari are considered one of the "giants" of the fish food world but their ingredients are just trash as they seem to use this fish meal tactic a lot. They are not the only ones by far.
For me, it’s one feeding on about a 2 week rotation… just for variety
And I’m not defending them, but I suspect “fish meal” can be from the best stuff, to the worst stuff, it’s a pretty nondescript term… probably more often than not, it's the worst stuff though...
There's a difference between 'fish meal' and 'whole xxxx meal' The first is usually made from the bits humans don't want - skin, scales, blood, bones etc. Meal from whole named fish (eg whole herring meal) is better quality because it's made from the whole fish not just the left over bits.
