It's not a walmart bash thread, don't worry ^_^ I went there to pick up bulbs, and saw a BEAUTIFUL little girl... I don't have room or a tank for girls but... you know.. I could not stop myself. Simple as that. She was so precious.

I know girls need to be in groups, so I'm going to try my best and save some money, and get the 10 gallon set up in the next week or 2... Just a few questions.

How many girls SHOULD I have (not can I have) in a 10 gallon? I want as few as I can have without fights... is 4 enough?

Also, can they be in community tanks? I'm sorry I sound like such a n00b, I've only delt with males! I know they are still aggressive, but considering she's very small (the same size, shape, and similar colors as my bloodfin tetras) I was thinking POSSIBLY she would be ok in there, am I wrong? Or is it something that REALLY depends on the fish, and I'll just have to see for myself? It would jsut be until I got her a tank of females, unless of course she gets along very well with the tetras. (they do not nip at all)

Oh... And, very unfortunatly... I just realized that my very ill betta I moved into the hospital tank seems to have died while I was at Walmart...Which is rather bittersweet... I am not in desperate need of a new tank now, and the girl does not HAVE to be in the community... Unless she enjoys it, which considering her size and likeness to the tetras, I think is possible...

Any suggestions or links? I'll get photos when she's in a tank. Thanks,

Katy

girls dont need to be in groups. they can be put in groups, but they dont need to. 4 in a 10 gallon will be ok, watch them though, or they might kill each other

Well, not with the intent of letting her go in there, I decided to float the cup in the big tank (Since all my tanks have the same temperature). She's trying to attack the tetras, which are larger than her, THROUGH the cup... SO it's a no go on the community idea.

She was makig an EXTRA effort to not get photographed...

She's so pretty. If I was going to breed vieltails (Which I have NO intention of doing, as I'm not a breeder! Just daydreaming :p) I think her and my other betta, Berry, would be a great match. They are both a pure white body, she has maroon and blue finss, and Berry has sky blue and purple fins ^___^ I imagine the fry would be stunning, even for vieltails :p

WOW!! She is absolutely stunning! I was actually blown away slightly. I don't know what it is about her but she took my breath away.
Just wanted to say that. She really is amazing!

^_^ That is why I just could not leave her. The pinkish/purplish color on her fins is actualyl a darker red in real life, but teh blue is teh same ^^

She si having fun cruising around teh 2.5 gallon. She is TINY, only about in inch long (INCLUDING fin!)

*EDIT* I can't find any batteries, so no more photos... But I am going to go raid remotes because I want some mroe photos of ehr, hopefully one showing her colors better ^_^

She has been eagerly searching for food. Unfortunatly, she has to wait until dinner time tonight ^_^

*blushes a little, and promises to get more photos later!*

I gave her 3 or 4 bloodworms, she doesn't seem fond of them ^^ I'm off to the fish store to pick up some plants for my newfound abundance of betta tanks, and some Hikari betta bites! Hopefully she'll like those ^_^

My boy doesn't like the freeze dried blood worms. Loves live food like daphnia tho. :hey: Can't wait til tomorrow when he gets moved to his proper home. I should be able to get a much better piccy too. :D
Hugs,
P.
Edit:She is one beautiful lady you have there.

omg she doesnt look anything like any female ive ever seen. you got REALLY frick'in lucky with her. i would love to have one that pretty. i was at walmart the other day an i looked at the girls an none or 2 appealing. all brown or dark grey...i love her. one hell of a deal!

They actually had 2 others, maybe 3 that looked VERY similar. If I had room, I would have gotten all of them.... I'd be willing to go buy one for someone if they wanted to pay for shipping, shipping supplies, and the fish itself ^____^
