:hi: to the forum.

I need background info: I.e. do you have any idea what you're doing (it's ok if you don't :p). Also, the types and/or sizes, and the number of fish in the tank. Size of tank.

Now, you need to buy dechlorinator if you don't have any. To replace the evaporated water, you put the replacement water in a bucket and add the dechlorinator (dosage written on bottle).

You also need a gravel vacuum if you don't have one. The size differs depending on the size of your tank. You should do 10-25% bi-weekly (if not weekly) changes.

The brown stuff is diatoms. All you have to do is get fluorescent lights if you don't ahve any or get newer ones if they're old (because they lose effectiveness after half - 1 year). These diatoms will go away provided there's enough light in the tank. Also, do more water changes, reduce food input, and reduce the number of fish, if possible.

Pm me or ask questions in the beginners section if you need more help or are confused. :D

:hi: to the forum. Dont worry It seems overwhelming at first, but youll learn lots here.

tempestousfury is right we need some more info. And you will definately need some water dechlorinator. Preferably one for chlorine and chloramine. Chloramine is something they have recently started putting in tap water. It is very bad for aquariums.

welcome to the forums.

what type of tank is it? is a freshwater or saltwater tank?

where in arizona are you? there are number of great shops in the phoenix area that will actually take a few minutes to show you how to clean and such if you were to go in and ask, especially if its a saltwater tank.

Hi HONEY SO EXOTIC :)

Welcome to the forum. :flowers:

The first thing to do is relax. Fishkeeping is a wonderful hobby and you will surely do well at it once you have learned a few basic things. There are many experienced fishkeepers here who will be very happy to help you.

What kind of fish do you have? :dunno:

Now, I'm going to move your thread to the beginners forum where you will get the most help. I suggest you read this article, which explains about tank cycling. Your tank is probably already cycled, but you will need to know a little bit about the chemistry involved so you can ask and answer questions in a way that will be most helpful.

Enjoy yourself, here on the forum, and soon you'll be helping other newbies learn what to do too. :D

i have a 60 gallon salt water tank
i have one smally blue with yellow tail, hardy fish......he survived the ecosystem creation.
i have one big queen angel, thats yellow with bright blue on the tips, and i have one dogface puffer fish.
im in tempe, arizona
i think i answered all your guy's questions.......
thanks everyone......please help me

two places you can go for help, if you don't get all the help you need here, are pets inc located at southern and mill in tempe, or aquarium arts on baseline and pennington in mesa (or is that still tempe???), the second are primarily a sw store and have always been real helpful. i'm in scottsdale by the way.

i'm no saltwater expert, but i'm sure others here will have more advice.

Yeah, it's saltwater.

SO, like I told her in the pm, increased filtration should be used in place of the increased water changes. I don't think it changes the topping off, though, seeing as how the salt doesn't evaporate.
