Last nite the cats knocked the lid down in the tank pinning my angel in I think it may have hurt it some way. He is swimming in circles and landing on his nose. Someone please help me figure out how to save my favorite fish. He seems like part of the family now....

Sorry to hear that - is ther any sign of physical damage?

Have you checked the water parameters recently/since?

The only thing I'd suggest if water is ok is to keep lighting off to help keep the fish calm and give it a bit of time....

I agree it might be stress due to the incident.

Yes I have checked the water it reads as follows PH 7.0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5 . He is still nose up but it seems to be breathing a little better. I have some melafix in the water you see a bloody spot from his nose to the end of its eye. I was wondering if they was something else I could add in the water with him....I have also added stress coat I am not holding out much hope for him now he has been nose up all evening. I was thinking of putting it in clove oil to finish him off. I cant stand to see it suffer if they arent any hope at all....

Or bless him, not sounding good then, you no your fish better, you will no when to do the right thing, sorry.

some fish can make amazing recoveries - if he is calm and doesn't seem stressed or in pain then give him a chance to recover....

Well he is tougher than I thought he made it threw another nite. I have been keeping the water real clean and adding melafix.. I hope he pulls through this ok. I feel do bad for him..

The little fellow is still hanging in there I guess he just got hurt I hate to see one of my fish suffer. They feel like part of the family....... :-( :-( :-(

Hi Angel Lady

I'm sorry to hear about your angel.

I'm glad he's hanging in there though. Has he stopped swimming in circles? Even if he hasn't don't give up. Lots of time they recover, but it might take a while, especially if it is a swim bladder problem due to injury, not illness. :D

I hate losing great fish :( My dad had an African cichlid who was belly up and had his tail chewed off, but we did plenty of water changes and he miraculously came back to full health. Cichlids are pretty tough, keep up the water changes, and good luck

Well he has made it another nite and he has quit swimming in circles I am starting to think that it is going to live. I read some where they can go a week without eating is that true.

I see where it has two places right on the main top above its fins now. It has been hurt I am sure of it now and it looks as if it is getting fungus on its tail fin also. I have never had this happen before could someone please help me figure out what to do in this matter. I have had this fish a long time and he is one of my favorites and I sure cant stand to see him suffer he is still nose up but I see where he has been hurt also. I have him in a tank with no one in their but him. And I have had the lights off and I have tried to keep him calm as possible. as far as meds go are they anything else I can do...

Just hang in there mate...

As far as not eating goes - the larger the fish the longer they can go(as a general rule) - just keep offering something tasty...

Well I think I have lost the battle I fed it shrimp pellets and It ate and I was in good hopes of it living and I just checked it a few minutes ago and it doesnt look to be breathing. But the funny thing is I put some stress coat on my hands and reached in the tank to get him out and dispose of it and it started to move around. I have never seen a fish live and its gills not be moving. Do you guys think I killed it by feeding it because that is the only thing I done different??? I am sorry to keep on bothering you guys with this I just hate to give up on him...I have had it so long    :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
