I Need Some Help On My Dyi Light

O.K. today i finished making my light for my new 20gl. I used a old exclipes hood and took out the old fixture and installed 2 20w lights. I bolted the ballast to the back side of the hood and after running it for a little while i relized that the ballast gets relly hot. So i'm just wondering if it's supposed to get that hot?

Yes ballasts can get very hot I know when I have ballasts in my hood you can almost burn your hand with them. I would just make sure it gets enough ventilation and you should be alright.
