it took two weeks to build up that far I am in the process of changing my fish around big time I got three new 55 gallon tanks that like a week before they finish thier cycle and I just didnt want to have to change the water 2 in the same tank in less than two weeks time if you know what I mean.
2 weeks?

I am concerned about this. It takes much longer for nitrates to build up to 200ppm IME. Not saying that it can't tho. Just saying I've never seen it build up so fast before.

I would check your ammonia and nitrite levels and see where they are. If I had to guess, which I do at this point, I would say your amonia levels are about 1-2ppm. [/QUOTE]
Help One more Time Please

I hope I can answer this the only way I know how to it has been three weeks since I chaanged out any water at all but I have added water to the tank as everyone knows that water disappears in a little while so I would add a gallon or mabey 2 every other day. But I never took any out at all. I have bought two different kinds of nitrate remover and I have tried the prime with no luck at all. The other kind is like ammonia chips they are supposed to go in the filter should I try this or should I just go with the water changing I should have known better I just hope I can get it back down before I lose anymore fish. And THanks for all the greatful help that you all have been giving me, keep it comming you know DUMMYS like ME sure need all they help they can get.
2 weeks?

u add 1 or 2 gallons of water everyother day? Do u have a cover on the tank? that's an awful lot of water to lose in a couple of days even in this heat.

Have u done a water change yet?? there is no product that i know of that will get your water down to under 40ppm from 160ppm

I done another 25 percent water change last nite that and along with the prime I managed to get it at a 100 I am going to do a gravel vac
