I Need Help

If it's clearing up already it's likely to be the substrate that caused the cloudiness. Not washed quite well enough.

And did you put something like This into your tank?
If so then you will have made the water technically safe for you fish. But I'd still recommend following the above advice (50% water change).

Just because the ammonia + nitrites are in a safe form for fish the bacteria will still digest it.
As the bacteria does begin to multiply and start to digest all of the ammonia + then nitrites over the coming week, you would still end up with a bacterial bloom more than likely. And a HUUUGE nitrite spike. Chemicals are only ever a very short term (expensive) solution.

yes i put that stuff in but i also went to a local big als aquarium( fish store in canada) and they gave me stabilizer which jump strts the tank cycle withing 48 hours so i am putting doses of that in aswell and i will do a water change aswell

Those 'jump start' bacteria boost products are next to useless, as the amount in which they speeden up the bacterial process is next to nothing.

If no mature media is present in the filters then you will need to monitor the levels carefully for the next 6-8 weeks, If the nitrite or ammonia readings are any higher than 0.25 or the nitrate is extremely high then you will need to do a 50% water change.

I would also stop adding the chemicals as this will become more of a hindrance than a help

Once you have got your water all right do abit of reading on keeping these fish if you havent already, they are alot of work. what kind of 70 gallon is it?Whats the measurements? 70 gallon wont really be big enough when their fully grown, a 75 us gallon long eg approx 4foot x 2foot x 2foot is MINIUMUM for FOUR adult red bellies to allow space to turn and ample space to swim, the more filtration the better aswell! :good:

Sorry I disagree, thats very overcrowded for a 50 gallon! Its nowhere near wide enough for them to turn around freely, probably why they havent reached 12". Your tank will be fine for four though :good:

for all who are interested after measuering my tank i realized it is 80 gallon not 65 like oprignally mentioned which means its perfect for the 4 piranhs i have... i have fed them 4 feeder fish and they ate them finally, but now it seems like there either playing or trying to bute one and other, is this common? but once i saw that i put another feeder in there and they dont seem to want to touch it? why is this

Firstly the butting etc is common, their territorial fish and a dominate fish will defend its territory by butting away the others, their will be the odd fight between them, not a big deal.

Secondly DO NOT feed feeder fish, especially goldfish. Forget what people feed piranhas on youtube  they contain growth inhibators which stunt your fishes growth not to mention it being messy for your water quality and risk bringing in parasites and diseases. Stick to white fleshed fish such as cod fillets, prawns, mussels etc. Its a much healthier diet :good:

well the water is back to almost green again but i brought in a sample and they said the water is safe for fish, but then why is it green and what can i do to fix it, should i take out all the water and start all over again, i dont know what to do

What tank is it?

How long is the light left on for? is it near to a window
What were the exact water stats?

i dont turn on the light at all and its across the room from a window, water temperature is at 80 ammonia is low nitate is low and there is a tinyu trace of nitrite that is still int he tank from before and its an 80 gallon hagen tank

ammonia should be 0 not low,
nitrite should be 0 not low

If you have these present then the water isn't safe for the fish
and if your wondering yes it is contributing to the algae, although having the tank opposite a window isn't helping.

the ammonia and nitrate are zero and the nitrite is 0.01 ppm
it seems that it is only getting worse, should i change the water completly and start from scratch

i eneded up starting all over but keeped half the water circulating with the filters so they still had bacteria water in them but the other water i have treated with chemicals so it seems ok or should i have any concerns
