i have a pregnant platy she is close to poping and im going away for the weekend friday afternoon what should i do i have 3 day fish feeder block should i put like a quarter of it in the breeders trap

I think it'd be okay to put all of it in there, just take out what the fish hasn't eaten. If she has her fry, she'll be really hungry afterwards which puts the fry at risk.
Is the breeder trap roomy enough? She might get too stressed being in there for a long time.

i dont know im realy stressed right now
i dont even hav breeders trap yet

Heres what you do. Get lots of plants (fake or real) and densly plant the tank. If she has her fry, they will be able to hide and avoid getting snacked on. If you use live plants, the fry will stand a better chance. They will eat the infusoria of the plants and grow quicker. Put in the food block too, for the female, as she will be hungry after giving birth. Another couple of advantages of using live plants are:

1. The fry dont have to venture out in the open to eat and risk getting eaten.

2. They dont stress out the female like a breeding trap will.

Breeding traps are okay for guppies. I dont use them for platies as platies are skittish and often jump out, or abort their brood. This means the female absorbs the fry and starts the pregnacy over. The live plants will allow her to move around in her tank freely. If the tank is larger than 10 gallons, get a 10 gallon aquarium kit, set it up, add some water conditioner, and plant it. Then, move the female to that. Ask more if needed, hope this helps :good:

what if i get a tank separator will that work

Yup, that sould work. Seperate the mom from the rest of the fish. Densly plant her side so the fry can hide.
