now all that has been stated I was into my lfs the other day and she had a cat that I almost bought for my SA/CA tank but it already looked pretty big and I figure that it will get bigger so I thought that I would ask about it. here is the discription as best as I can do

long whiskers about 2 pair, flat head, greenish/brown body with a large bold black stripe down the entire length of the middle, any ideas?

edit: stupid mouse on my laptop, I ment to post this in the catfish forum maybe one of the mods could move it for me?

so went into the lfs today, and so I was able to look at her cats today and the one that I was wondering about turned out to be a shovelnose catfish, all I can say is that I am glad that I didn't get the poor guy.

Whats wrong with shovelnoses then hey!!!!?

Probably not the best tankmates for horrible cichlids i must admit but gorgeous catfish.

nothing wrong with them like I said I wouldn't mind getting him everytime I go in there I have to look at him for about 5 minutes but everything that I read was that they get HUGE and I just don't have the house for it or the money to get a tank that he would be comfortable in.

All depends on the species, if its a tiger forget it, it will eat all your other fish and not even feel sorry, if its a sorubim then it wont get any bigger than 20" and can be kept easily with other large fishes.

not sure as to what species it is I do know that it is bout 6 inches long and in a 20 gallon tank with all kinds of cichlids I know that she has alost of babies in there she even has an adorable 1.5 inch JD in there and he is all black and I just want to get him too.
