He ate 90% of the babies last night. I was so torn whether or not to take him out cause there were only a few free swimming so i left him and now there's only a few left.
I'm so upset about this!!!! :-(

Aw, sorry to hear that. Maybe there are more than you think hiding somewhere. Don't be too disappointed yet!

I'm so sorry  that's such a bummer. I lost a bunch of fry to the cory in my fry tank over-night, so I totally understand how HORRIBLE it feels, so many bad things can happen. There is most likely much more fry than you thought, so just keep your hopes up and feed them plenty of good food and keep the tank clean. There's no telling exactly how many fry survived until they get bigger and you're able to do a full count! Hopefully there are a bunch more.

I think there's definately 50 but probably closer to 60 still left. I guess i could be wrong and it be less but there's still a bunch. Problem is i've never done a bbs hatchery before and i don't know if the bbs eggs hatched so i'm covering my but and giving them a bit of that, a bit of frozen bbs and a bit of crushed flake food. I'll be glad in a week when i can give the tank a good cleaning. I hope they'll make it! :/

Oh that's still a boatload of fry. Maybe he knew what he was doing ( I think they do when they eat them anyway!)

I'm glad there are so many left! ^_^

I have had pretty good hatch rates with BBS, even though these past few weeks has been my first experience with hatching too. I have a 1-litre plastic soda bottle with the neck cut off, filled with warm (80*) water and 1 tbsp of aquarium salt. Use an air-pump with an airstone to keep a powerful current going. I add about 1/4 tbsp of BBS eggs, and I usually get way more BBS than I need to feed 100+ fry... however, you should probably start with a bit more eggs until you get the feel for it. To harvest (the eggs will be hatched between 24-48 hours), turn the air pump off and direct a small flashlight towards the bottom of the bottle. The eggs will float, and the BBS will swim towards the light. After the egg shells have settled on the top, use a turkey baster to suck out the BBS that are swimming near the flashlight, then empty the baster over a BBS net. Swish the BBS net either in the tank, or in a cup with a little bit of tank water in it. I swish the net in a cup with tank water in it, so that I can use an eye-dropper to feed a more measured amount and avoid over-feeding.
