Are you keeping them together?
Because if you are, you could have some problems in the future. Most likely the Betta (Siamese Fighting Fish) will see the Guppies as another Betta, because of their long flashy tails, and go after them. Your Guppy's tails will be nipped, and they will probably be constantly chased and maybe even killed.
I would advise you seperate them before anything bad happens.
It's hard to find tankmates for Bettas though. Usually they are best off alone. But what size tank do you have?
By the way, I'm not meaning to be discouraging. Just trying to warn you so all your fish will be happy, and healthy and have a long life.

I agree with Annastasia. They may be fine for a while but you will eventually have problems. What size tank do you have? Bettas also don't like much current or water flow from the filter.
Unfortunatly, you can't always trust fish store employees. Sometimes they are just hired without having and previous experience with fish, and will just give you an answer, whether it's right or wrong. Not all fish store employees are like this, some are very good. But not all of them know what they are talking about.

No offence ment by this post but.....
Only two days ago you were asking when you could add fish to your tank. You said that you didnt have a thermometer and you didnt seem to know much about cycling your tank.
Have you tested your tanks water? Do you know what tempertaure it is?

What about the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates? How long has the tank been running for now?
So you have about a 15 gallon. Still kinda cramped for this to work. I would seperate them.
Your tank is cycled, correct? Otherwise your Guppies don't stand a chance. They are not very hardy fish to begin with, and most likely will not survive cycling.

Oh dear. Your tank isn't cycled at all. The fact that it has been run has no bearing on the cycling process. The beneficial bacteria that keeps your tank cycled can only live a few hours out of water. I'm guessing the filter from the tank has been out of water for at least a day?
You basically have two options.
1. Take your fish back, and do a Fishless Cycle, and then get fish once your tank is cycled.
2. Cycle with the fish in there. You need to be careful with this, and do water changes frequently so the levels don't get dangerous for the fish. I still doubt the Guppies will live through it.
I'd personally go for the fishless cycle. However, it's up to you. If you look around, or search, there are tons of topics on cycling. I'd suggest you read through those. The Beginner FAQs at the top of the forums are also great.

It sounds as if the tank isn't cycled. Get yourself a good LIQUID test kit and keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrite readings. You will probably have to do daily water changes to keep the amonia and nitrite levels at a level that will be safe for your fish. Don't feed them but once every other day. That will cut down on the waste and reduce the ammonia and nitrite. Good luck.
