i just bought a pair of swordtails

and the female is a bit fatter than the male and is laying on the gravel moving its front fins very fast

Do you thin that your new female is in trouble? She may just be getting used to your tank. What size tank are we talking about and who else lives there? Your female may appreciate you adding another girl soon so that the male only bugs her half the time. Good luck on the babies!
