my friend was a hard water and high ph aqurium
so we setup did a cycle
he bought a proper ph power to make it 7.5
we poured it in
and the ph is slowly changing
my question will salt increase the ph?

Did you cycle it with ammonia for a month or so.... or did you just let the tank sit for a day? Why are you thinking about adding salt to the tank- it's very fish specific as to which ones can tolerate or even need salt in Freshwater fish. What is he planning on putting in?

It's best to find fish that suit your Ph rather than alter your Ph. For a long time i altered my Ph but i had a bad experience with proper Ph (whereby it made the surface of the water look like it had clingfilm layed over it). I decided enough was enough and from that day forth i stopped altering my Ph. Of course this has to be done carefully as to not kill your fish with Ph shock. Now my fish are happy in my tapwater which is around 7.5 and to be honest most fish shops don't alter their Ph. If you ask at your LFS what their Ph is then its more than likely to be the same that comes out of the tap.
Well thats my opinion anyway!

well i did cycle
and he will keep guppys in hard water
and the tap water oh is 7.0

guppys do like salt... but only because they give birth so often *damn fish get more action than I do* anyways, salt might raise/lower your PH. Not 100% on that though, your best bet is to research on the net and ask your local fish store :p good luck d:D

so should i add salt??
i only have non-iodized table salt
or i he wll buy the the aquarium salt

I'd recommend the salt for guppies but NOT TABLE SALT!!! aquarium salt is specially designed to reduce stress and add extra somethings to the water, I forget what it adds... but it's good , anyways aquarium salt is relativly inexpensive, just ask your LFS and make sure you don't get reef salt as this WILL kill you fish... reef salt is designed for marine fish which need this kind of salt... Don't get it  like I need to say it twice :p but I did... Just incase ;) good luck :D
