So I live out in the country and get my water from a well, so there's no chlorine, but we have a lot of minerals in the water, and a lot of copper, which I assume is a problem. Will normal water conditioners deal with heavy metal s like that?

Any water conditioner which says it binds metals will do this. Since you don't have chloramine either, a basic water conditioner would be OK. The only thing is that they all remove chlorine, but you don't need a lot of other additives such as aloe vera or something to temporarily detoxify ammonia (this is to deal with the ammonia half of chloramine)
The one with least ingredients is API Tap Water Conditioner, it has only two ingredients - something to remove chlorine (which is in all water conditioners) and something to bind metals.

You could filter the water through carbon before using it in the aquarium. Or add a carbon filter to the tank.

Any idea what the copper level is and where it's coming from?
ie: it's from agricultural run off or you have a copper mine nearby.

How do you know it has a lot of copper? Did you have a lab test done? Is this a personal well and so what details can you provide? We need as much information as you can provide. It is had to give you any advice without details.

If you have not had any test done on the well water I would strongly advise you to get ICP OES lab test done. Otherwise the water may not be save to drink as well as unsafe for youfish.
