Yey went to my LFS today and bought 4 Columesus Puffers and 4 Ottos.... sooooooo happy going to try and get some pics later.

Put some frozen shrimp in from the lfs for them but they've nibbled slightly and thats about it, don't seem interested at the mo, so I'll take it out tomorrow morning and try em on some blood worm see if they'll go for that, worried about leaving it in too long incase it starts poisoning the water.

They have been taking swim by shots at the odd otto and several small snails though, the ottos are hiding now so they're leaving them alone :p

Yay! I'm so jealous!

By the way, what's an "otto" ? In sweden it's a first name =)

otto is short for otocinclus , which is a type of small catfish that likes algae :D

Look forward to the pics Lithril :)

Cheers, will try and get some pics tomorrow, they've spent most of the day chasing their reflections in the glass so far, cute lil things though

Congrats on the new puffers litheral

Thanks! Found them on planetcatfish.com. Cute little cats =)

 Congrats on the new little buddies Lithril

How big are they now? My little guys seem to like the frozen brine shrimp when they were tiny, but now love the frozen Mysis (river) shrimp best.

They're prob about an 1" maybe just under. Probably going to take one back tomorrow, I've just noticed its got a damaged eye (cloudy and protruding slightly) I think it can still see but not very well as its spent the whole day going up and the glass.

If anyone thinks this will heal ok I may keep it, seems to be eating ok, any Ideas???

My little guys spent about 2 weeks going up and down the glass in the corner, but they eventually adjusted and are swimming around the tank nicely now.
The cloudiness may be the result up poor water quailty at the lfs, I have had a few puffers with cloudy eyes (can't tell if they are protruding as they are bug eyed already  ) but they cleared up in a week or so. I would keep an eye on the little gaffer and see if it starts to clear, some melafix may help speed up the healing.
If they are eating well it's a good sign, how is their poop? Is it clear and stringy?

I actually havent seem them go but then I got stitched up into laying a concrete base for someone this weekend (groaning at the moment as I also have to work tonight :/ ) so havent seen them going.

Havent touched the shrimp but absolutely devoured the bloodworm I gave them this morning :)

:D Glad to hear they are eating well...if the poop is clear it is a sign of internal parasites and medicating with "Discomed" will fix it right up, if the poop is normal you are in the clear

Asked my LFS today if they could order Indian dwarf puffers for me. They will call me back on wednesday

Wish me luck! ;)

The couldn't get any for me

:-( Guess the tank will stay unoccupied...

nooo, It might be worth trying to get your lfs to get some Colomesus Puffers (south american) they seem to be a bit more common than the dwarfs.
