Let me start from the beggining, about a week ago I picked up a piece of LR from my LFS because it had a small polyp colony on it (green eyed buttons). Unfortunatly there was alot of algea and junk on the rock, the whole rock just looked hairy and ugly. So today I decided I didn't want it spreading so I took the rock out and broke of the area with the polyps and set the rest in a plastic bin. Well first I saw two very colorful bristleworms one big and one small (2" and 1/4"). Each has bright pink heads and tails and then purple center bodies. I then had the idea of setting up what was left of the rock in an old 1g cheapo aquarium set I had, so I would be able to look for more hitchikers and etc. (you wouldn't believe what you find when smashing open LR) So I'm in my garage and after having just put in the gravel rock and water, I hear this noise that scared the **** outa me which came from the little aquarium It was a very strange sounding thud kind of noise, it kind of had this weird aftershock noise to, I'm not sure how to describe it. Also the water in the top of the aquarium moved alot (like the glass of water in jurassic park). I was wondering, do you think I have a mantis shrimp in there? Normally I would just pass it off as a fallen rock or something, but there were no rocks nearly big enough to make this noise.
