Be bigger enough for a Black shark also a irredecent shark?????Also I dont know if that is how to spell this or not. I plan on buying one shortly but if I need a bigger tank than that for these fish I dont want to buy this tank because it is going to cost me over 800 dollars.

No, iridescent sharks need at least 300 gallons.
Is this the black shark you were talking about?

It says they reach 2 feet and must have at least 70 gallons, but I do not agree with that. IMHO if they do get that big, they should have nothing less than 100. I think a black shark or two would be OK for the tank you're wanting to get. Definitely no iridescents though.

Thats true that black sharks get to about 2' and they dont ake long to get there as well, my one is 18 months old and has hit 18"

Wow, an inch per month!
I don't have any experience with black sharks, and actually didn't know about them until today when I saw a few at the LFS. I still say they are OK for a 180G.

i wouldnt say an inch per month it was 3" when i brought him and now its slowing down abit in growing look at my gallery he is in there

Yes that is the shark I am talking about And he has grown about a inch per month mabey more. But I love him and I will buy what it takes for him. As for the other shark I really didnt know what I was buying when I got him he just looked so cute in that tank I couldnt come home without him. How long will it take him to get four foot long because I have had him for almost a year now and he is just about 7 inches long he really hasnt growed that fast. If he is only going to grow 5 inches a year then I have some time but I think the 180 gallon will be enough for him for a while dont you think.

Yea I change the water weekly and I feed him shrimp pellets daily I cant figure out why he isnt growing either... Do you have any suggestions as to what i can do to make it start growing... I grew a bala shark up fast on blood worms this shark wouldnt even touch them... The only thing this fish will have is shrimp pellets.... I may not be feeding him what he should have I am open to any suggestion..

Could try staveing him so he is forced to eat them, i do that with my oscar when i want him to eat pellets, sooner or later they give up and know they have to eat them to live, give it a shot see if it works.

Black Sharks are by no means nice fish, they often have to be kept on their own because of their aggression so be warned, they are nasty fish.

if yall r talking about the irridecent sharks it takes them like 11 yrs to get to full size. id say u can get small ones that are maybe 3inches or 8cm and ull probly get a bigger tank. most ppl seem 2.
my brother has 2 baby Irredent sharks that are 1 inch and 1.5 inches, theyre in a 15g tank and theyre doing good. they get ugly though when they get bigger.
sorry if im off topic, the other posts confused me

I thought it was something I was not doing for that fish because he wasnt growing faster enough..... CFC you have been very helpful in the past do you have any suggestions??????? I sure would like to know if I am feeding this fish right. I couldnt stand it if I thought I wasnt giving it something he needs to grow.

I would try to give him a more varied diet than shrimp pellets, try some of these;

Sinking Carnivore Pellets
Cucumber
Frozen/Live Bloodworm
Frozen/Live Brine Shrimp
Prawns
Cockles
Mussels

Its the trouble of getting him to eat, i still stick by my reply of not feeding him nothing abd only putting blood worms in the tank or as for any food you wish to feed him.

on the black shark front my friend has one at his shop and it is very nasty two foot long, we cannot put anything in with it even big plecs at 18" - 20" long as he will just attack them . very very nasty fish a garden centre sold one to a young lad earlier this year close to where we work and by no surprises it went back when someone told him what it was..

ref billy the black shark:
even when a human goes to the side of the glass all he does is get real angry and try and get threw the tank he has got approx 900 litre tank ..
he has bloodworm and catfish pellets to eat
