Alright well my Betta didn't make it. I went out, bought them a 3 gallon aquarium and another type of medicine called JBL Ektol fluid which I used to no avail.

However, I do want to does my main aquarium with it as well.

It's a Juwel Lido 120 liter aquarium.

Now, I dosed it with eSHa 2000 with the last dose having been yesterday. I did a large water change today and put back in the carbon.

If I do another, much smaller water change, will I be able to dose with this new medication?

Question 2!

The Lido has a built in filter and the JBL instructions say that I must not use this medication with my filter running.

So, I was wondering if I could take out the filter pads and put them into my three gallon aquarium for the duration of 3 or 4 days with the water at 70-75, will the bacteria on the pads survive?

Would sprinkling foot in there to get ammonia started work as well?

I just want to make absolute sure that I have killed off whatever is in this tank.

Also, do I need to change the dosing any because I have Corydora, Oto and Assassin Snails?

Thank you so much!

Sorry you're Betta didn't make it,i personally wouldn't put any more meds in the tank at the moment, especially has the betta is not in there...

Do the other fish show signs of what the betta had? sometimes putting meds in the tank does more harm than good, especially if you're not 100% sure that what you treated the betta for in the first place...

I can see what you're saying but putting a different med in the tank can stress fish out especially having corys & snails.some meds require half dosing and may not be fully effective

It sounds like the ektol fluid will knock out your filter media,it's a no win situation really,if you remove your filter media from the main tank to the 3 gal to keep the bacteria alive, this won't neccesarily work inless you are moving the whole filter, then leaving your main tank without a filter, you would need to do daily waterchanges to keep the ammonia/nitrite down,so therefore you'd be removing the meds has well, then would have to re-dose each day...

Meds are good if they are used for the right disease, right dose and catching it early enough to treat the fish sucessfully.

I'm sure someone could help you out more :good:

Thank you for your response. You're right; it would be pointless to dose if I'm just going to have to re-dose everyday. And I could accidentally end up overdosing and killing the fish for nothing.

I haven't seen any signs of sick fish. I think I'm just going to do a two gallon water change everyday for the next week just to potentially flush it out.

I do have two filters running in the Juwel Lido. The second one is an external because the internal was just not doing it for them.

Again, thank you!
