I have a fish that his/her stomach is bloated

Right does the fish stay at the top and does it seem to have laboured breathing, the swollen bit is it the same colour as the fish, put some more shelled peas in as well.

Fish will swim anywhere in the tank, breathing doesnot appeared laboured, swollen bit is paler than the rest of the fish and a hint pinky
*Just goes downstairs to have another look*
*Wonders why he didn't take the laptop downstairs too!*

Swollen bit is generally the same colour as the fish, the upper part is striped but paler, the lower part is silvery (as is the fish there) but as i said kinda pinky in the middle.
A few peas are in for all to nibble on :look:
Thanks

Sounds like the fish has a bacterial infection as i've noticed on mine when i had livebearers when they got swollen they had a pale area on the tummy, with a slight pink tint, can you issolate the fish for treatment.

hmmmm I dont have a spare heater, so it might be a bit tricky ...
What treatment would he need? How long would it take?
At a push I suppose I could put my 2" CAE back in the community tank and use his tank, though I wouldnt feel too comfortable doing that if its for too long.
Cheers

Do some daily water changes on the tank, add the correct amount of med back to the water removed, you will need a anti internal bacteria med by interpet, good luck.

The "blister" looks bigger today.
I've been to the fish shop and bought some of the No9 as suggested, read all the instructions cover to cover :) and put the medication in....
Fingers crossed its not all too little too late
Cheers
JDS

Finger crossed good luck.

Blackangel yes this tetra is alot bigger than anyother tetra in their and it does chase the other ones around but recently it has been hiding sometimes in the same spot then it comes out whenever the large pleco comes out or it will chase another tetra away if it comes in its area.

Sounds like a female to me but just watch it closely in case it shows anything else wrong.

Thanks :)

Took some photos today, not great but you might be able to see the "blister" ...

You can also see that his spine has deformed, this happened months ago when water changes were less frequent and water tests were occasional visits to LFS with a small jar :*)
He still looks ok ... apart from the blister ...

Again, thanks

(P.S. Sorry for hijacking thread  )

He looks bad get him out of he tank, sorry the fish isn't going to make it, when did he get the bent spine.

This is not put here to scare just to see, as he has a pink patch on him as well, don't want the blister thing to burst in the tank, that's why he also needs moving.

Mmm ... ok thanks
As posted above ... the spine deformity happened many months ago.

I'll shift him or do you think its a lost cause? Should I put him out of his misery?

He looks dreadful, no he isn't going to get better, you can't mend a bent spine, sorry, and i don't want that lumpy thing bursting in the tank and causing infection to the other fish, if he looks in pain and discomfort yes i would put him out of his misery, sorry, not a nice choice to make.
