I have been keeping fish on and off for like 12 years. I have had my fish now for 2-4 years. It's been almost a year since I got any new fish. I'm bord with my tank. I dont clean them like I use to. I'm happy with my stock but bored. I can't get rid of them because my fish are my pets and I care about them.

What can I do to spark my love again? I'm thinking of redoing the whole tanks get all new decor. That might help.

Anyone ever feel this way?

Yeah, usually twice a week. lol.

A new tank may reignite your passion. Something different to what you have already got. Maybe a nano with shrimp? Maybe a livebearer tank with some of the rarer livebearers?

I always find getting a new species to go in your tanks that are compatible with the species you already have a great way of resparking your interest in the other inhabitants. That and totally redesigning the various tanks and creating whole new looks and themes. If you currently have say natural looking creek type decore why not mix it up and make fantasy or mythical scapes. Heck I have seen tanks dedicated to the owners own interests rather than the fishes with regards to the tank being scaped with Star Trek parafornialia for example. Even changing the lighting so the fish show different colours can be a huge amount of fun and amke the tanks interesting again.

Get a younger modal.. Or Try to add one or even two more ?

If I am not confusing you with another Snowflake, try and find your Blockhead Cichlid a partner... That will certainly spice up your cichlid tank! :D

Why not try getting a small breeding tank and breed your own live bearers?

Alot of people take breaks from the hobby, get stuck in a rutt same as yourself, Word of warning, be sure you want to leave before selling everything, you will be lucky if you can sell tanks etc for what you paid, then 6 months or a year down the line you may want to return, costing money again, If you feel a break looming, maybe sell fish only and store equipment in garage or similar, Im just getting back in hobby, so far spending another £400+..
Maybe you could go for some Oddballs?

There's always the myriad of gadgets that you can start putting in your tank. The chase for the perfect number to keep them in the best conditions possible.

Yes I still have my little bockhead male still. My tanks are full and I am bored but I still like the fish I have a lot.

I did get into nano takes. I have a 10 gal planted tank and a 5 gal planted tank that will be a shrimp only tank. Shrimp are so cool I have a few now.

I have a 20gal long I was thinking of moving all my plants and fish from the 10gal to the 20gal. I just don't know where to put it or where to find the right light for it.

I will try doing an extreme make over on my tanks. Take everything out get some new decor maybe new sand.

I don't think I could sell my tanks I work to hard to get them.

Thanks.

Check out some of the amazing tanks featured on Youtube, both professional and amateur ones.........something there might just inspire you! The ADGVibe channel has some great examples, both planted and hardscape

What sort of tanks have you kept in the past mate? Anything you haven't tried yet?

Well I got a pair of sparkeling gouramis male and female. I am. Dry excited about them. They are a fish I have wanted for a long time. They are in a 5 gal planted tank and doing great. I am going to put a sponge filter in just in case I get eggs.

I am getting ready to take down my planted 10gal and put everything into a 20gal long. That's my big project. I have lots of plants including HC so that should be a fun one. I am going to buy lots of shrimp for this tank.

My big tanks are getting a make over today. I want to go with branches not chunks of wood like I have. So I got to look for some need branches and rocks.

i am also bored of my tank. few months ago i split my plants up, which as you can see in my sig were looking wonderful. i split them to give some to a mate, and they have never recovered, they look rubbish now. ive got too many fish after i saved a few from somebody elses tank, i cant get rid of any because i dont know anybody else to take them, and ive got a serious problem with giving away 30-40 quids worth of fish for nothing to a shop, who will then sell them on again. especially as its where i brought them from in the first place  .

some of them i dont even want, but because i live right out on the cost its hard to find people to come get them. my filter is adequate, but it bugs that that i should have brought the next size up, and i rigged the piping up wrong, so my inlet pipe isnt in the best place, and i cant seem to sort it out. and all of a sudden, after nearly a year of not a spot of algae, all of a sudden ive got algae coming up. im losing interest in keeping it clean, the lives of the fish i do want are being compromised by fish i dont want but am stuck with.

so yeah sucks.

Well for me redoing the tanks today helped. My tanks look great so clean. I found a nice new big branch for the discus tank and took out the big chunks. The branch needs to get water logged then I will rearrange a bit more. But that little remodel was much needed.

I am setting up my 20gal long I will do that next day off. I am excited for that and getting more shrimp. I fixed up my 5 gal and moved it so I can enjoy it more. I am getting back in the fish mood.

I cleaned out my filter on my 10gal and found a shrimp half dead. I saved him he has one eye but seems to be fine. That was exciting.
