I hate it when posties do that - I remember reading a post by a fella on the MSE forum who got 2 "we missed you cuz you were out" cards despite having been in, so he got a chair and sat next to the door and literally waited all morning. When he got the third red card through the letter box he threw the door open and handed it back to the guy and said "actually I am in, I'll take my parcel now" and the driver looked dead embarrassed and said he didn't have it - it was in the van in the next street. So this guy says "oh, well you'd best go and get it then, hadn't you? I'll wait right here" I'd love to do that to a postie, except my regular posties here are actually quite good.

I couldnt pick them up till 2 days later as it was a bank hol weekend and only 4 died so great packing!!

Being a postie myself, I hate it when I hear stories of my colleagues leaving cards without ever having the parcel on them to deliver. It may have been very busy on parcel deliveries, in which case this postie may have been authorised by their line manager to "card" items without taking them out. However, if this postie has done this without authorisation, it should be flagged up via a formal complaint by you that will result in a fact finding exercise to see why you have not received your parcel delivery.

but if thats the case, id rather get a card that says "we couldnt fit your item on the van, but its available to pick up if you want. if not we'll deliver it tomorrow" or something like that. rather than a "sorry you werent in when we tried to deliver your parcel", depsite being in the kitchen making a brew. luckily my dog goes beserk when he hears the letterbox go, which would give me enough time to get out the door and investigate.
