I Got My Lights, I've Got My Sand Now Comes The Co2

remember high light, nutrient rich substrate YET no Co2 may cause problems.

You need to be patient, wait until you can afford everything and make sure everything is right before you setup!

Good Luck

Chris

Okay,

I found this http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...2188x003&ctt=60

Says eveything is included but the CO2 canister. If I was to order this could I take it into a shop that sells CO2 canisters and they could find a canister that would fit? Also is this a very good deal? I've had my tank for 4 months now slowly slowly buying everything I need for it. I really hate algae and thats the last thing I want in there so i making sure I do everything I need to, right the first time :good:

Looks really interesting and a nice find.

Its likely that it would fit BUT should it not, i would guess they only will stock one type of bottle. You could get it to fit using different bolts and connectors tubes thats what i did, but unless you got someone in the metal trade to help, its damn hard work.

I would advise you source a bottle supplier, print the link out and take it to them and ask if it will fit.

I think buying something like this is an excellent idea. You have the problem that the regulator may not fit the bottle, but buying it all separate you have the problem of everything not fitting together!! lol

Find a bottle supplier, print it out and ask what they think.
I guess it will fit 90% of CO2 bottles, but there are slight variations on the threads.

Ahhhh you are so helpful me like you long time  I believe am ordering that baby then within the week then. They had a very nice one that was $389.00 (yikes) So after the co2 comes then I need

6500k bulbs
The canister
plants
fish

I have a filter for a 30 gallon so I'll need to get a better one would you reccomend like a bio-wheel? I now carbons bad. When I decided to get my 55 up and running and I decided that a planted tank would be cheaper than a marine boy was I crazy or what. LOL

Does anyone have any recommendations for a full CO2 regulator system that I can easily get here in the US? It seems that most of the ones posted earlier are the UK or Asia.

Thanks!

look into the milwaukee regulators and controllers. for tanks, ebay has cheap aluminum ones.

its too bad y'all dont live near me, cause i was selling my setup.

Hey that's a neat set up, I've never seen a co2 all hooked up. I didn't know the tanks were that big, is it a 5lb? I also belive me and you have the same stand. LOL. Whats the green thing? and whats the bubbly thing that extends off the regulater?

This is what I have for my 55 tank, could anyone tell me if I missing anything?

55 gallon tank
stand
260 watt. compact lighting
heater
1 bag of eco-complte
1 bag of flourite
1 bag of laterite
freshwater master test kit
- ammonia
- nitrate
- nitrite
- Ph
- high range Ph
- filter for a 30 gallon (Iknow they reccomend low flow (LOL) do I need to upgrade this? I got it for free so it's not a huge deal if I have to buy a better one)

I fnally got tired of waiting for the cash flow to come in so I took a 250.00 loan from the bank. I plan on buying the
- regulator
- co2 canister
- co2 test kit
- secong bag of ecocoplete ( so i can have 5 in deep sand)
- Plants
- 6500K light bulbs (other reccomendations???)

Can anyone think of other things I'll need besides this. I'm sure there is a zillion things I forgot.. :shout:

the cylinder is 5lb. actually it might be 10, i dont remember. the green thing is a pH controller that automatically shuts off the regulator solenoid when the water reaches a specific pH. the bubbly thing is a bubble counter, to read how much co2 is going into ur tank.

u might want a reactor too. i built mine out of pvc piping.

i have a 55g too!

Yeah i'm sure we got it at the same place to :shifty: don't let the pros know. LOL kidding it's a really good tank and set up for the price.

it's not so bad. i got a goldfish there 3 years ago and its still doin fine. getting fish from there is more challenging, cause the first thing u gotta do is nurse them all back to health. so i think if u get fish from walmart, and they live, ur a pro!

i have a 5" rainbow shark from wal-mart bought at 1 1/2 to 2" it was the first fish i ever bought. I cant even stand to walk by the fish at wal-mart anymore and see them. it just disgust me.

save the ones that can be saved :(, it is sad to see them lead the life of misery, the betas have it even worst

Yeah can I just ask.... what is the blue water for? I've racked my brain over that, I evens een them in a very professional tropical fish store have them in blue water.

I bought fish from Wal-Mart ONCE, and I could not bear to walk down the store again and have 50 people tell me it's going to die. (in which it didn't) I finallt told one lady when she very rudely came up to me and said "I would never buy fish from here anymore. had to return one 6 times because it kept dying. everytime I got home and put in the tank it died. I think that's stupid of you to buy fish here it's just going to die" so I said "WELL your stupid for buying it six times and your stupid for not accumilating it right."

How much did your canister cost you BTW?

Really?

I tried to find them on Foster under co2 and accesories and couldn't find them. Then they mentioned they can;'t ship pressurized things :X I finally bought one for 72.00 at a welding shop. Sheesh for something so ugly you's think that it'd be cheaper. *rolls eyes*
