I noticed one day that my catfish spawned again and this time i wanted to save them. i put them in a big jar about 2 gallons, I then added and airstone and some methyen blue. And 5 days later i had about 120 little white babies. I moved them into another container which i know now was a big mistake as i lost all but 3. :(
I put the 3 that survived in a 4 gallon tank with a box fillter and there starting to look better every day. Their not big enough yet for me to get a good photo but in a couple of days i'll try and get some to put on here.

Any comments or advice would not go a miss as this is my first attempt.

ok but i havnt got any of that methyen blue stuff, i will have to get some asap :D

Methylene Blue is used for many many things. In this instance it is being used as a fungal inhibitor, hopefully prevental fungas from developing on the eggs. I have had mixed results and no longer use it at all, not to say others have not had excellent results.

The dye has many uses in the science world, one of the major ones has to do with DNA dying and chromosone coloration, along with a host of others.

It also has the side affect of the ability to convert methomoglobin to hemoglobin, this aids in the transportation of oxygen in fishes (also in humans if you care) Becuase of this it can be, and is, used for fish that suffer from cyanide poisoning, which also mirros the affect of too much nitrite thus this can help fish that are used in the cycling of a fish tank during the nitrite period.

Hope this was more information than you were looking for :)
