Factory work is hard. It may be as simple as slapping a label on a box and stacking it on a pallet, but the constant bending and lifting 40# boxes for 8+ hours kicks your butt. I respect those guys. They earn their paychecks and then some. I appreciate my job being a keyboard jockey even more after doing line work and working in an overheated kitchen.

It is tiring. Also the labeling isn’t as easy as it sounds. You have to scan the item and then get the quantity, put in if it’s going in or out (storage or to be shipped), etc.

I am usually the one palletizing and loading the line. (Unloading from the pallet on the line, removing shrink wrap, opening boxes, etc.)

There are people there that sit on the computers, managing eBay, Amazon, storage, etc.

But, many of the people switch jobs and get to do different stuff. They also have a soda line, where they make different variety packs and sell the, on Amazon.

How's your job going?

I've almost always worked manual labor type jobs (ie: factory jobs, running our family restaurant, etc) except when I was in my early 20s I was a store manager for a Blockbuster video (oh boy, I took that job for granted!). Well, about 6 weeks ago I got a new job as well. I'm working as an auditor for really nice hotel. Pay is similar to what I was making before, only I'm not killing my back anymore and it's only one mile from home. It's lonely and boring computer work, but I'm liking it so far.

Just got back from work, I’m exhausted.

We packed 7 full pallets of 18 pack Cokes today, along with a lot of line work. My legs are killing me. Not so much my hands/arms, because I exercise them more.

I also rammed my shin really hard into this metal thingy that held the pallets. Boy... that hurt. I have a nice egg sized welt on my leg.

Anyway, it was a good day.
