hi everyone..im a newbie. ) ive always had bettas just never really researched them well i recently bought a male betta from wal-mart to try mating him with the "female" that ive had for a few months now...well when i introduced them my "female" almost killed the male ..well i did some researce on bettas and come to find out shes a male plakat..Doh!! well looks like im gonna have to buy a real female...lol i wanted to breed the little female i do have but i think shes to young..shes about 3 months old i believe and when she gets near a male shes turns pale and shows vertical lines..well sorry to have posted this for no reason...just wanted to get this accident off of my chest...lol..word of advice to new betta breeders...MAKE SURE THERES A MALE AND A "FEMALE"!!! LOL cant anyone tell me what kind of plakat this is???

It looks like a nice looking Plakat. I am not sure what you mean by what kind? Plakat's are short tail Betta Splendens.

The female is a Plakat too. Wait 2 or so months and breed those too

ohhh ok..thanks lol ..if i spawn them succesfully ill give ya a male and a female hmmm, i wonder what colors they will have...and if i spawned them would they have short tails or long tails?? OMG im lost...lol i have alot to learn before the two months is up...

The should come up with short tails. A army of little Fighter Plakats My favorites.

The male looks like he is blue or torquise. Not sure what the females color is.

oooo..lol...the male is blue and torquise with the visible red...the female is red,purple, and alittle bit of what looks to be black lining her back fin..lol im not sure if its black or just a really dark purple..

I think you will come up with mostly Steel Blue (greyish blue), with Blue and Torquise babies too

But you best wait for one of the old hands to reply.

Well, am not too sure about that, but if you breed Royal Blue to Royal Blue you get 25% Steel Blue. I think Violet and Blue would produce about the same effect.

The files have to be 100kb or less, that might be your problem...

make sure they are jpg image picture,....where did you get the plakat as most fish from lfs are usually about a year old anyway, and you could breed from 3 months
