I Feel A Power Cut Coming On

No, the water will only become stale after a few hours. I'm talking about many hours and stopping that bad water from getting back in to the tank. Still water during filter clean or water change is harmless to both fish and bacteria.

Ok, I meant would the water still be stale during a power cut if the filters were clean of poo.

My spider-sense was right and we did have a power cut last night.  I wrapped up the tanks nice and warm and then remembered to disconnect the yeast CO2.  I thought it would be a bad idea to keep pumping CO2 in the tank when there is limited oxygen.  Anyway it only last half an hour and the power was back on :p  I could hug our electrical technicians right now, they were working through an awful night to keep the power on.  There were at least 80 trees downed in our area alone.

Hehe I don't think it takes Mystic Meg to predict power cuts in this weather!

the wind took 3 fence panels and delivered them straight into someone's living room down my street, through the glass doors .-.

I'd say that cold, but I know you are talking "Celsius" which isn't really that bad. :p

Now, -2 Fahrenheit, THAT'S cold.

Celsius makes so much more sense though. Measure the freezing and boiling point, put 100 divisions inbetween and boom

I have no problem with that... I use it in my professional life.  But, if you REALLY want to talk about what makes sense, KELVIN is far more meaningful.

Kelvin is fantastic.

"hey mum, i was at zero degrees kelvin today"
"ooh how nice" *turns around*
*son is a human popsicle at absolute zero*

Well, at least zero Kelvin actually means something... after all, zero Celsius being the freezing point of water is only true at certain pressures. :p Same with 100 degrees Celsius.  I suppose folks in the UK don't have to worry about that too much, but those living at higher elevations really do.

i think celsius is based on ISA conditions as 1013 hPa, 15C and sea level
