I am in a panic, just got home from work and one of the clowns is not looking good at all. The one with the lump was lying on the sand when I got in, so to check he was ok behind the rocks I used a net to move him. He came out swimming fine. I fed them but he would grab it and spit it out, other one eating well like a pig.

This other just doesnt look right, his mouth looks odd compared to the other one and he has some stringy white 'poo' i guess just hanging there.

I have done a WC in a panic, and added some prime. I really just don't know what to so as he is now back behind the rocks resting there.

What can I do. Will he die or am I just worrying about nothing. The other is fine and nice and perky! The weirdest thing is I chose the fatest 2 as they must have been eating well but this one isn't interested

Ahhhhh I have failed on day 2 as a clownfish mummy :(

It doesn't sound good. Have u got good water movement at the top, and wats your Amm reading? U could try and fresh water dip him but it might just stress him.

plenty of surface movement, was before but just made more. Dont have an amm test if I am honest but nitrate was low the last test I did on Monday. I will go and test nitrate again in a second.

The weirdest thing is the other guy is fine! Wouldnt they both be suffering? Its like when one of my trops went, they kind of look like they lose their boyancy a little and tip to the side. I could almost cry :(

I thought about a dip but dont know how to do it properly

U just get some RO, bring it to the same temp as your tanks and take the clown out an put it in the water for 5 mins, watch to make sure it's ok and then put him back in.

Please don't do this yet tho as it might just make things worse. Get a second opinion. It's hard cos we don't know what it is that's causing it. Amm test is essential weez wen u have fish, get one ASAP! Nitrates Dnt cause much of an issue with fish.

Fingers crossed for u.

Ahhhh sucks as on advice from lfs they said I will use amm test a couple times then wont need it so I didnt get it! Argh I have failed completely! Feel a total idiot now.

I dont know what to do at all. There shouldnt be any amm in the tank at all. Dont know where it would have come from tbh. Or how it would still be there. Tank had a mini cycle I think as sand went brownish and nitrates were high then came down. I might take some more water out and put more fresh in as I am panicing now.

Off to do that now

Oh and they said if there was amm during a cycle it shows in nitrate, once nitrate is gone then there shouldnt be amm in there....

is this the fish that had the lump and the lfs said he didnt know what it was? as the other fish is fine i would suspect the lump rather than your water

yeh the same fish. Hes dead :( Im so pd off. Angry at myself. I have just done another WC. I wont be buying anymore fish. Wasted money on one I cant even keep alive for 24 hours. Useless. I bet the other one will go by the morning. Don't think I can deal with losing that much money so most likely will sell up. I dont want to be buying expensive fish just to risk them duying like that

I dont even want the tank right now

Ring the store up and take it back, providing your water parameters are fine, you give them a sample of your water and the dead fish they should replace it.

Please post your full water parameters.

noooooo!!!
it werent yer fault, it was the guy at the LFS

It must of been a bug from the LFS not your tank. :byebye: :rip:

I just cba anymore. Im so upset. I dont even care whos fault it is. fact is I couldnt helpp him. The other one is happy looks fine. This one had some weird thing around its mouth when I went down.

If your water parameters are fine then I'd ring the shop and ask them to exchange it.
