I looked at PetsMart for a sponge filter and the only sponge filter thing they had cost $32! Air stones are cheap (less than $2 for a couple of 'em). I don't think little air pumps are too expensive either, although I haven't bought *just* an air pump - two of mine came with AquaClear one-gallon tanks, and the others have been given to me. Airline tubing came the AquaClear tanks, as well, and I've had some given to me. The UGF filter tube - you guessed it - came with the Aqua Clear tanks, too. Heck, buy an AquaClear tank for $10 at Wal-Mart, then buy a 97-cent sponge (found it in the auto section) and you have a sponge filter *and* a tank and light for another Betta for about $11!GuppyDude said:yes your could build ur own but not everyone has air pumps and stuff just laying around ( i do thogh ) if u factor in the cost of buying an air stone, air pump, hose and a filter i think buying the filter kit would be a lil bit cheaper. i could be wrong it is an interesting idea, builing ur own filter. how do i do that? im sure iv got the maerial juts need the plans
I'll try to take pictures and post 'em (though I"ll probably post 'em in a new post, instead of continuing to hijack Auratus's thread Sorry for hijacking Auratus!
