Got in from work to hear a funny noise coming from my tank, found it to be my skimmer pump.

Started to dismantle said skimmer to remove the blockage when lots of purple ink started to spread through my refugium, fatty (the sea hare) has decided to kamakazi into said skimmer pump.

Fatty (the suicidal sea hare) has been half sucked into the pump, I belive him to be dead, I hope he is as it looks pretty nasty.

Off to the LFS for some carbon and maybe a new skimmer, don't fancy picking slug out of my old one.

Argh forgot my carbon! Bought a new skimmer and some seachem prime to prevent any spikes.
Lfs said the ink won't harm anything but a large dead slug could cause problems

Uhmmm I wouldn't be so sure... I'm almost positive I've previously read about their "ink" being potentially toxic, similar to a cowfish. I would certainly run carbon and water change.

Ok after some research it seems the ink is toxic but not anything to loose sleep over in a larger volume of water, it's really only slightly tainted the water as I syphoned most of it out.
A good skimmer and water changes will sort it out but carbon would be nice, sadly lfs is closed now.
Will just need to keep an eye on my tank.

Oh and skimmer is a hydor slimskim performance something or another. It looks cool but is very different to my old skimmer

This morning the only I'll effects I can see is my feather duster has shed it's crown and the brain coral is trying to eat it.
Hopefully it's the only casualty.

Manderin has died so apart from the feather duster I have no other deaths.
All the coral looks better then it did before the slug suicide, all the other fish look healthy.
I suppose the feather duster got a good dose of ink as it filters large volumes of water and the manderin consumes large amounts of pods that will have been inked so he got a big dose aswell.
It's one disaster after another it seems.

Very dis-heartened ATM, seems it's one problem after another.
Well 25% off corals begins tommorow at lfs so that should cheer me up.
