I Did It!

Hi ridewake210

Sorry i didnt respond sooner i have had a few problems myself , one of my fav fish has popeye
Hopfully he is on the mend now. :good:
Back to your question when i have a fish holding i usualy strip her of her fry at 2 weeks and pop her back in the main tank . I have a fish holding at the moment , this time round i put her in the fry tank with fry from her previous brood as the male was constantly chasing her .she has been holding now for 3 weeks so should spit any day now .I dont now how she will be when she spits but she has been fine up till now  .
when she does spit the fry my plan is to feed her up a bit and then put her back in the main tank .I will let you know how it goes

awesome! good news.

hope ur fish gets better real soon though! my wish's are with the little guy.

yea i placed both zebra and lab in a 29g with a fewhome made caves and stuff and i used my case for my blak cds, screwed off the tall top see through lid, and drilled a bunch of smaller size holes for fry to escape form the moms if they do in deed need to run and hide. nice idea i think.

well yea both fish r still holding.

been running a sponge filter and every once in awile i turn the HOB on just for some extra help and such.

thanks though for responding! u seem to be my only help on this subject!

greatly appreciate it!

Hi
Looks like my fishie is on the mend he looks much better now.

My lab has spat i had her in a tank with her last batch of babies and some peacock fry.

This was a bad idea as the fry may be small they were big enough to kill the new born a lesson learnt there.
The mother did not harm the babies so you should be ok im not sure how your fish will act with another adult in the same tank if you see a prob arising just remove one of them.
As i said before i normaly strip the fry after 2 weeks i wanted to give the mother a break from the horny male next time i will put her in a seperate tank.
Keep an eye on your fish they must be ready to spit any day now let me know how you get on.
Good luck

awesome!

glad ur fish is getting better!

cant wait untill both of mine spits out the babies! :p

thanks!

only got kids out of the red zebra. yellow lab either spit ot early or swallowed her eggs about 3 nights ago.

Nice one once they start to breed theres no stoping them it becomes a regular thing expect lots more. :good:

nvm.

much more then 6.

the others were hiding.
have about 20+

also, my g/fs molly's had 17 fry today.

would it be ok to keep all fry together for just a little while in a 2.5g? till they get a little bigger and then i can move them to a 10g. and the red zebras can go back into the 29g they were born in.

any ideas?
