I did a good deed.

:flex: And... on the subject of PETA.... *yikes* lol

I, too, completely agree that they are extremist and I have emailed them before on several occasions. The Rudi Giuliani billboard, for example. I was IRATE when I saw the story about that on the news.

I also emailed them a novel when they posted on their website that people should stop drinking milk because it causes cancer and all sorts of other health problems, then they showed horrific photos of cows in terrible conditions on a dairy farm.

I was ultra pissed off.

So, I am in 100% agreement with you on PETA.
About the only thing I see them as being good for is tossing their name around when trying to get a corporation or other organization to listen to you about how they are treating their fish. I think most people see PETA as a little heel-nipping organization that will not back down, no matter what and they'd rather resolve the issues before them than to have someone like PETA standing out their front door.

Okay, I'm done talking about PETA, too. :)

And as far as PetSmart and PetCo go, the 2 PS stores here in town are not that bad, either. I've found bettas with finrot and such, but aside from the fact that they keep them in teeny tiny cups (but then, who doesn't??) they aren't bad. I did see a guinea pig there a few days back that had no food in his cage (They're grazers and need to hay or SOMETHING to chew on at all times) so he was eating the bedding in his cage

Of COURSE I told them to give the poor guy some hay in front of customers standing around, and explained to them how my guinea pig had gone through intestinal GI problems because he had been chewing on and eating a little blanket we put in his cage, and 2000$ later he's healthy. blah blah, though....

You all get my drift. ;)
I guess I feel like I'm a mini PETA myself.
I don't need them to help me handle situations. :flex:
lol

I actually didn't read through the page closely, admittedly I never examine anything too closely that is put out by Peta because they have been caught exaggerating things or even outright lying in order to persecute particular organizations. Honestly, I just don't know what to trust from them. It may very well have been taken from multiple stores, maybe they went around to lots of different Petcos and took out bits and pieces of abuse/neglect going on at various ones. I think what I was thinking about was a particular lawsuit Peta brought against one particular PetCo that had horrid conditions. Most Wal-marts I've been in and mall pet stores have had worse looking fish and/or other pets than the pet warehouse places I've been. I've only actually been in the PetCo in my area and no others, but have been in a few PetsMarts. Some PetsMarts seemed better than others. I'm not particularly keen on the one here. Their bettas actually looked ok but they were in the teeny tiny cups there, whereas PetCo here now sells them in little tubs with care instructions on the side. It's a start :)

Without a doubt, I'd much rather see pet stores that were more invested in the pets' welfare and in education, like Drs. Foster & Smith.

A lot of people are saying that PETA thinks its cruel to keep any pets, but I've read pages on their sites where they talk about how you can help your dog live a long and healthy live, and in another article they said "Does your mom dedicate herself to making your dog happy" or something like that. It was an article I was reading, kids could send in emails on why they think they're mom is the best.

I would strongly encourage anyone with questions as to Peta's agenda to take a look at this link. There are thousands like it, but this one is particularly well documented with quotes from Peta leaders in publications. Peta doesn't necessarily openly announce their agenda on their pages because they still want supporters. Not all their administration feels the same as the founder and president of Peta. but to me, that is the person that matters in the organization. The only way to find these things out really are to carefully research and read through all the things that have been published and that they have fought for.

Here's the link... an eye opener for sure:

That's as much as I'll go on about them here. My feelings are so strong about it after all the reading and research I've done, but I don't want to seem to be crusading here.

Edited to add, I personally am not keen on animal research even for medical cures, but this does point out pretty well the goals of Peta and the dismal, dark attitude its leaders have towards humans.

peta is extreme i can handle the vegitarian anti animals and fur stuff but the petco thing pisses me off..besides finrot my petco is good..i play games w/ the fish (i just found a petco a hour a way) the gouramis love a game were i like conduct them i move my hand a certin way and they all follow(im serious they all follow my hand) then i play a game w/ the bettas where i put my finger at the top and wait for them to look i give them a treat like a blood worms (my petco lets me give them 2 FD blood worms each im planing to work there when im 15 or 16
