as you can see she is a beautiful white fish and in the sunlight she goes irridescent violet. but she has a different shape to my platys

thankyou very much. how many fry would a platy of her size produce....2 inches....she is developing gravid spot

20-50 is the normal, but 20-30 is more common.

A platy female of 2", would more likely produce in excess of 45 to 55 fry.... In the photo though... this one is not near delivery and could be at least 20 days away from dropping.

the white 1 i am not sure it could be a ballon molly never seen white platy . red one a platy

These are platies, however the white one I can see how it can be mistaken hehe

Those are some nice looking platies LilyRose. I am going to go with Ludwig to say the female should drop well over 30 fry but is not yet close to a drop. Platy drops are quite large compared to some other livebearers. I have links in my signature area to a thread that shows the development of a platy that is ready to drop and to my own molly's entire pregnancy. Mine was intended to enable anyone reading through it to judge for themselves where in the process their own fish might be. After all, you are the one that can see and judge your own platy, not LV or I.

thankyou everyone, am I correct in assuming white platys are rare?

That bluish white is not especially rare but they may not be seen much in some areas if the LFS don't expect them to sell well.
