This coming weekend I am going to be heading home and to my LFS (the one that is a 5-6hr drive). I'm going to use a bit of my income tax refund for a new set up. I am going to buy a 33 long US g. tank, (48"x13"x12"). I already have lights for it (120w). :kana:

I am going to use a DIY CO2 system and either an Eheim or fluval filter. Florite under a layer of sand for the sub.

I am going to plant it up and eventually put Jae barbs and a pair of P. taeniatus into it. Those are the only fish I want in it.

The plants I want to use are going to be almost entirely all green plants. The idea is to make the fish really pop. Being that the fish I want are mostly red, they should.

The only thing I am stuck on is some branched driftwood (to look like an overhanging root) or an idea I have with petrified wood (I love the way it looks).

What would YOU do ... No, I am not going to change the fish! (I know that I need to say this, I've read your posts people)

if it were my tank I would have a an abandoned temple theme in it. black gravel, or white but black wouldnt show the dirt as much. then I would put a pleccy in there :)

Hi kmurph :)

The tank you are planning sounds spectacular!

Best of luck with it! :D

Thanks Inchworm, it's going to be a long haul. I think the hardest part is going to be finding the Jae barbs. I've seen a few sites that will stock them, but they are not common. Well, not common around here anyway.

I still am up in the air about using driftwood or the petrified wood. We'll see :dunno:

petrified wood questions.
1 heavy as rock right?
2 expensive?
3 will it leach back minerals? I know how it is made from science class :)
