To setting up another tank.

I like mushrooms a lot & I almost took a spare seamless 8g for an all mushy tank. I stopped myself, though. It would have been an open-top invert-only tank...

With...

1 Koralia nano 425 or less, mushies don't need as much flow
1 Aquaclear 50 refugium
2 of those lousy LEDs that I have

8lbs of Haitian LR
8lbs or Livesand

Corals

All mushies, discosomas, rhodactis, ricordeas, with small accents of gsp and maybe gorgonians because the light will be dim. Very colorful...

Inverts

Pair of Harlequin shrimp
Another hermit species (I've got blue-legs, scarlets, and electric blues), something different would be cool
Assorted true crabs (I really enjoy porcelains & pompoms)

No fish, the tank doesn't have a lid. :(

But I was good and the tank still sits empty because I have to save money. :( I will go sell the tank now. But it was fun to imagine such a tank. So I'm posting it here, in case any of you want to steal the idea. :D

Dont like Harlequin Shrimps in tanks :( Its just sad the see them :( gorgeous as they are!

IMO I wouldnt even keep shrimp without a lid, they are just as bad at jumping as your average fish! I find the larger shrimp are terrible, if im going to lose anything it will be a shrimp jumping through a hole half the size of its body

But other than that..... do it!! Do itttttt!!!!! Chicken :shifty:

Nah, not doing it. Not chicken. I'm a fearless reefer! :flex: Just need monies for other things. Like adult life things...

I wrote a gigantenormous article. My brain hurts.

Nooooo - keep the tank! Even if you can't set it up now, some day you could put a Petrochirus diogenes in it...lengthwise. But more seriously, it's good to have spare things.

Haha! Now that's a hermit crab!

yeah, I know it's good to keep it. I just am so tempted to set it up when I see it. It stinks.

I know that feeling :) lol. That's why my dad won't let me get a qt tank. I told him it would be temporary then he said no because "knowing you after your qt was done it'd have fish in it full time."
He's right I would lol. Its such a hard to resist urge. Lol

Adult life things!? Phhtttt!! Thats just excuses :p

I know, I know...

Wait til you get older... Sigh!

Actually, I'll end up keeping the tank. My dear friend recently had a heater malfunction, which nuked his whole tank. He's been scrambling to save his fish and has no where to put them. All this time, while he's telling me his story, I'm thinking... I've got that extra 8g with an extra filter, and extra power heads, and I always have SW ready to go. If something like that were to happen to me? I'd be ready.

I now feel about 5 years old again :good:

EDIT: :good: :shout: :hyper: :yahoo: :friends: :drinks: :kana: :drink: :band:   :ninja: :p :fun:

Just hit 1000 posts! I cant believe its only 1000, i swear i feel like I have posted ten times that! I shall just say that I only say what needs to be said then LOL

I've only just started with this hobby and already i'm getting an insight into how addictive it is. I'm sure it's almost like a drug addiction, only more expensive and time consuming. :hyper:

I keep every piece of old/worn-out/barely functional equipment around for precisely that reason. Just this week had to drag a near-dead heater out of my equipment graveyard box to fill a gap while I went out and got a new one. Irritatingly though, that old heater had a 3-year-old mummified bristleworm on it that, even in death, managed to sock my pinky finger a good one. So make sure you clean old junk before hoarding it LOL.

It accumulates after a while, though. I still have to get rid of a lot of my planted stuff. It's too much. I've only got the one planted tank left and it doesn't run on CO2.
