I Am Thinking About Breeding Corys

i am thinking about breeding corys and i need your help on a few things. first thing how big do they have to be. second what substrate i know it has to be small or could i just hav a handful of sand on the bottom. basically any hints and ti[s i could use to breed them successfully.
