I just wanted to let everyone know I am still around. :D So, watch out... :fun: :hyper: :fun: :hyper: I am looking forward to bringing all the fishy stuff back into my life....and yours.... :hyper: :hyper:

I did a dumby and tore my shoulder up but I am ok now. Was really hard to type since I couldn't move my arm at all.

Now that my tank and all is set up and my fishies are happy, I have only one problem. I bought some live plants for my tanks, little did I know, they come with snails free of charge hidden in the roots. :/   :grr: The little buggers are taking over my tank!  I have taken out a couple dozen already and have at least that many left. What do I do to get rid of them? Those of you that dont know I have mollies and guppies; are there any fish that will eat them or what?

Anyway, I am back, but this is a very busy time of year for me so may not be in a whole lot but I will check at least a few times a week. B)

Hi Mr. Bink...nice to hear you're on the mend :D ...I believe Loaches are good for eating snails  ...I'd recomend Dwarf Puffers but I don't think your other fish would enjoy being nipped up. You could look at the Figure 8 puffers, I think they have a better temperment than Dwarfs, and prefer light brackish water which I believe your Mollies & Guppies could handle as well. Pretty much anyone from the Puffer family will take care of snail troubles
Other than someone to eat the snails you could try a slice of cucumber or zuchini at night, and when you remove it in the morning it should be full of snails. :D

Welcome Back Mr. Bink,

Glad your shoulder is feeling better. B) I'd go with loaches personaly. a few clowns, a khuli maybe. unless your water is a brakish set up then puffers would be cool.

Hi, I'm new and you must be old ;o)

I think my Cory Cats eat the eggs. I have a snail problem to, but every time they lay eggs they get eaten. Either that or it's my bloody parrot eating them.

Good Luck,

Silver
:*

Clown loaches - I had the same problem as you - I went away for 2 weeks and came back to a snail tank :grr: - went and got 4 juvi clowns and my snail population is now under control. I still get a few, but not enough to be a problem. Clowns like to be with their own kind, so minimum is 4. BTW - nice to see you back in business :D

How big is your tank? Clowns grow quite large, and need lots-a-room. A smaller botia, like Botia Striata, would do you much better if you have less than a 55 gal. tank. I had three in my ten gallon tank, and they took care of a HUGE Ramshorn snail problem. I had to take them out because of the shrimp disappearances. So, now I have some more shrimp.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder. But, it is nice to hear you are back and doing well.

Wow, thanks for all the welcomes and good wishes! :D You guys are the best! :hooray:

As for my tank, it is a 29 gal (US) and is pretty well stocked now that my fry are half grown and I have another dozen and more on the way. SO, which of the affore mentioned, (gotta love that legal type talk  ), would be recom for my tank that I don't need more than 3. I have some cover but not much as I did because those silly mollies eat all the plants ;).

Hey silver, welcome aboard!
