I have had my parrot for 11 months now. She is stunning but still Shy/skitish and not very active or fun. She was an impulse buy. She is 7" and I think still growing a bit. My tank is over stocked and looks like I can't have a bigger tank for a few years. I think it would be best to thin out the stock a bit. I also want a bichir. I will let the pictus cats go too and maybe my ebjd.

So I would have this all fish are a year old so not muh more growing.
Green severum 7"
red severum 5"
2 uarus 6-7.5" ( my husbands fav)
blue acara 5"
buffalo head cichlid 4.5"
1 bn pleco 3"
1 rubbernose pleco 3.5" ( might plecos to their own 20gal tank. That will be set up like a river.)

what do you guys think? With the stock like that do you think a marbel bichir would be cool?

if you posting i bet i know who buys the parrot  (sorry for going off topic)

I live in the USA. I don't really want to let her go but feel it would be the right thing to do.

Such a shame, just looking at your sig pic it''s a gorgeous looking fish!

Do you have much in the way of dithers in the tank? Is it really that timid?

Dithers don't last a week in this tank. She has other good sized cichlids around that are good. When all other fish come to say hi shys away. She is a wild fish born out in the amazon and brought to my tank when she was 4". I wish I could ship her back to the amazon.

Maybe you'd have better luck getting the same fish when nice and small....a shame it really is :(

I am not really sure I will but I am thinking about it. I would have to find the perfect home for her. I just really want something differant like a bichir they are so cool. I just feel like I never should have gotten the parrot in the first place.

It's a pity that she hasn't really worked out for you. It's possible that she may even be happier in a different situation. Her shyness is obviously not changing in the tank she is in at the moment.

She has her moments it's not like she hides all the time she just kind of hangs around. But she is always the first and sometimes only one to dart away from me. I am not sure what to do. wait and see how big she gets and hope I can get a bigger tank, or find her a new home. Grrrr I don't know what to do.

I posted an add and will see if anyone wants her. But she will not be going for free. If I can't find a good person I will keep her.

your parrot looks amazing, but i know what u mean with the hiding, is there not a zoo or something near you that could take it, atleast then you no its going to a great home and u can go and visit!!

I have thought about that. There is a zoo in San Fran that has a great huge amazon tank. Not sure it would work.

I think I will end up keeping her. If she gets bigger (and she will) then my husband will see I need a bigger tank. He likes big fish so it could work. My dad will be out to visit and he can help me reinforce the floor so I can have the bigger tank someday. In the mean time I will still keep an eye out of someone that's has the perfect set up for her.

Today I went to look at the fish and my smaller uaru beat the crap out of the bigger one. I might split them up. She has do e this before. It's not the first time.
