I am falling in LOVE with loaches...

My LFS can order just about any fish that I could possibly want. They only buy from 2 main suppliers that net or hand catch all their fish, so they say, here is their address if curious: www.tropicalhobbies.com.

Anyhow, I absolutely ADORE the clown loaches and I know they get very big, but I was just wondering how big? They are the cutest things I have ever seen, but they don't have scales and that scares me. I also like the Blue Botia, but I guess they can actually be quite mean and eat smaller fish in a communtiy tank says loaches.com's description. It also says that they can get up to 12 inches!!

Do you know of any loaches that have scales and have the same "look" as the clown or blue botia loaches, but don't get to be about 6" long? I love that chubby, round, walking on the fins look that both those loaches have. TOO CUTE!!!

Help Me :look: !!

My sucking loach is one of the coolest fish in the tank. But he's got an attitude problem :D Something to watch out for when picking loaches.

I think DG has pointed out the main one. Off the top of my head i cant think of any at the moment. When keeping loaches your water is the main issue. Dont use raw tap water and 30% weekly water changes is all what i do. Remember not to overfeed as Loaches live on the bottom and you dont want them to live with old rotten food!

Thanks for wondering....sorry I didn't know you had posted until tonight!!

My LFS is going OUT OF BUSINESS.....they say it's because of the economy, but I don't know. I live in a larger city and there are only a few Fish Only stores. I have NEVER gotten a sick fish from this place and I LOVE them and now they are not ordering any new fish in case they end up with a crap load of them and no one comes back to buy them....understandable I guess!!

So I got discouraged and went to Petco. They just so happened to have 2 Itsy Bitsy baby Red Hook Silver Dollars (I have 2 adults already) I about had a heartattack when I saw them and I just HAD to get 2 of them. They look SOOOOOO adorable next to the bigger ones...I am going to take pictures soon and put them up on the net for you guys. You HAVE to see this....it is to die for!!!

Thanks for all you help. Maybe someday I will get a single species tank for the Clowns or maybe a few different kinds of loaches.

Thanks Again,
Silver
