Apparently the media have not been able to report on the full extent of the damage in many areas:

That photo isn't real... I hope this person is OK though.

The photo's not fake. If only the devastation was fake, but it's not. That's in Gilchrist, Texas, near Bolivar, which is on the other side of the bay from Galveston. At least the OP is in Friendswood which is further in... although there's a decent chance his place might still not have any power. Hopefully, the worst he experienced was high winds and some tree limbs coming down, like the area near me.

Yeah. But, in Pekin, Illinois, where my uncle was living. There was a really bad tornado. It destroyed a all the houses on each side of his house on the enitre block. But his house was unscathed. How werid is that? How do you not know that this is the same with this house. It appears that the house is standing on messed up concrete.

hope the hurricane went as well as it could of

Good luck to you!! This is shaping up to be a strong hurricane.

Just an idea, no experience behind it, but what about those cannisters for compressed air, like you can buy in automotive stores. Fill one up to the max with compressed air and put a hose in your tank with a trickle of air, like a bubbler.

what part of MO you from? i got back about 2 weeks ago from a 3 week holiday. the lake was up about 8ft (table rock lake) with lots of flooding down lake the lake (taneycomo i think it is)

Exactly, and that would have lead to structural problems... But I have heard of a tornado leaving some houses ravaged and others completely unharmed.

If it was Photoshopped - then it is a better than Hollywood effort...

I think it is fake. I kept my mouse over the map to see if the house was in the same spot every time, and it was not ;)

The photo is real...I saw video footage of this house on the news. They actually discussed on the news that people thought it was a fake photo.
