I have quite a mixed aquarium and in the past i have not seen this happen before but over the past month, my fish have became quite agressive when it comes to food.

I dont under or over feed them - i put in one pinch for 2-3 fish so they have plenty to eat but over the past month they are liturally jumping out the tank when i go near it and as soon as i put food in all hell breaks loose.

The clown loaches used to squat down the bottom when i put in food but now as soon as i put in food, all three of them jump out and practically skim the top of the water like a stone.

Its getting quite scary, im scared incaseone jumps out.
I was used to that behaviour when I had an Oscar but not from smaller fish.

you might want to put a secure lid on it just incase one ends up on the floor. dont know why they have this behaviour. how many times do you feed them a week?

I have a jeweled Delta so there is a secure lid ontop - thank god - my oscar used to try and jump out everytime i opened it up.

I have no idea why all of a sudden over the past month they have began to get to hyper when i go near the tank or near the food. there have been no changes except a new gold barb and a fatlipped Gorami but they are just as bad. i have checked about incase one might have had fry or something but i cant see any about.

I feed them every 2 days, they get jst enough that there is only a tiny amount that hits the floor so the sterbai can get some but they are so hyper when i put food in - but its the clown loaches that scare me, the fact that they get out of the water and skim across the top to eat.

I was told off in the past for putting a small pinch in for each one i had every day so i have limited what i put in how but not to the point of starving them.

Thats not much food. Increase it to at least once a day . Feed a little at a time and spread it evenly so everyone gets a fair share and as soon as they start to lose interest you know its enough and you can judge it from there.

I feed mine a moderate amount twice a day - frozen food in the morning and a little flake food in the evening. I never just dump it in but make sure everyone gets his or her fair share. Not had any problems with overfeeding or water stats and have healthy and happy fish that still get excited but not manically desperate when its feed time!

hi
do you feed your fish other food apart from just flake? the loaches ( other fish) will love frozen bloodworm, mosquito larvae, daphinia etc( can buy in blister packs at your lfs or online) & also blanched cucumber, zucchini, romaine lettuce & also stuff like catfish & algae tablets.
variety is best & it does sound like your fish are hungry!
