have a very sick platty who has been diagnosed wit internal parasites..... he is in isolation but really aint lloking good! is there a humane way of putting him to sleep without using clove oil cuz im allergic to the damn stuff...... cheers :(

imho clove oil is the best way but the second best way is the alcohol method.
purest alcohol available, like vodka, jack daniels etc
not beer or wine etc.

Put enough alcohol to cover the fish into a container and drop the fish in headfirst. The alcohol will cause almost instant paralysis and respiratory failure in the fish, which accomplishes our goal of a relatively painless death. Only use this method if you are of legal age to posses the alcohol or have someone that is of legal age with you while you are using the method.

I know the feeling. But to watch them suffer until they die can be worse. I know. I had it happen today as I desperately tried to save my pictus cats lives. :-(
In the future I won't leave them to suffer like these did since I know the signs that they are dieing and have no chance of recovery. As it is these ones went very rapidly anyway. Literally from being uncomfortable with ich to death within the space of hours.
If your platty really is dieing then the best you can do is not let him suffer.
Hugs,
P.

Sorry you have to do this, most of us have been in your situation, i agree with wolf clove oil, if you haven't got that vodka, an overdose of internal bacteria med, or a sleeping tablet crushed up and added to the water.

R.I.P. little fishie.
